A special presentation of a remarkable collaboration between Paul Tolliday and his brother, Marcus Lacey.
Years in the making, Paul’s poetic allegory explores the spirituality of people while weaving together Yolŋu and Balanda (non-Indigenous) perspectives.
Marcus amplifies the work with his striking artwork, emphasizing its deep significance.
The event will feature a reading, print edition of the text including Marcus’s art, and a 22-minute film bringing this unique vision to life at Red Kangaroo Books.
About the book: God-Wanarr Nir’yurr (God Breathed)
This dhäwu (story) is to take you on a journey through history in a way that is bringing together the Indigenous (Yolnu) and non-Indigenous (Balanda) world views. Throughout life, breath is a constant. Throughout history, breath is ever-present. Throughout culture, breath is ongoing.
The book is written with the original languages on the left of the page, with a full English translation on the right of the page. Augmented Reality recitations are provided for each section.
