Please be aware that the final session (Friday 21st November) may be photographed. If you do not want to be included in any photographs please let Anna know at the start of the class.
Mparntwe / Alice Springs has been hit hard with negative media stories - but those of us who live here see a different side to the town.
Sit with us by the Todd River, learn to paint with watercolours, witness reality, and create a painting which can be sent as a postcard to a friend, family member, or... politician.
Painting outdoors is a great way to spend time simply looking.
During this unique session, you will learn basic watercolour painting techniques in a quick overview watercolour painting class (materials provided).
We have selected a short reading from a relevant book for each session, which will be read out loud while you paint. We cannot predict what we will observe during these sessions - the Todd River is a highway for wildlife, weather, and people.
The river red gum trees make excellent subjects for painting, with unique characters and colours, and life plays out like live theatre when you slow down and look around.
Each session has 12 spots available to book - if you reserve a free spot in the class via this web page you will have free use of all art materials included.
If there are no places available to book for the session that you would like to attend, feel free to come along with your own art materials and listen in to the class.
Please come dressed for the weather with a bottle of drinking water. The winter days feel chilly in the shade!
Please meet us by the Todd River, near Stay Alice Springs.
Thanks to the Alice Springs Town Council for funding this series, and to Red Hot Arts for supporting.
