The Art Shed (Central Australian Art Society) is set to host a unique exhibition of Sticky Fingers Art Prints Cambodia, opening Friday, September 26th.

This event celebrates Cambodia’s vibrant 1960s Golden Era of music and art, while launching a fundraising campaign to support the creation of a new dance program and studio at the Fish Island Community Arts Centre (FICAC) in Cambodia.

The exhibition showcases over 20 striking screenprints by artist and filmmaker Julien Poulson, known for his work with The Cambodian Space Project. Poulson’s art merges retro aesthetics with modern storytelling, paying homage to Cambodian musical legends like Sinn Sisamouth, Ros Sereysothea, and Pan Ron—artists whose work was nearly lost to history—while incorporating global pop influences.

A centrepiece of the collection is the “Mara” print, which commemorates a historic cultural encounter: a young Andy Warhol’s sketches of Cambodian dancer Mara during her performance in 1950s New York.

The opening night will transform The Art Shed into an immersive retro experience, with guests encouraged to embrace 1960s style. The evening will feature:
A soundtrack of Cambodian psychedelic rock from the ‘60s.
A culinary experience by Kek Soon's Cambodian Kitchen, offering authentic Cambodian cuisine.
Screenings of clips from Cambodia’s Golden Era, including excerpts from the acclaimed documentary ‘Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten’.
This event launches a campaign to fund a new dance studio and residency program at FICAC in Kampot, Cambodia. Proceeds will directly support this initiative, helping preserve and promote Cambodian cultural arts for future generations.
Julien Poulson and Kek Soon will be present to discuss their work with Sticky Fingers and FICAC, and to share information about an upcoming Cambodia Arts, Cuisine & Culture Tour in January 2026.
