True Story - of life, with love from Central Australia

Presented by Artback NT with support from Alice Springs Town Council & Regional Arts Australia, True Story brings together figurative works from six prominent art centres, sharing the rich stories of life in the central Australian desert. Through the lens of First Nations artists, the exhibition highlights childhood memories, family experiences, and the ongoing fight for recognition and human rights. 

These captivating artworks offer a window into life on Country, town camps, and remote communities, exploring themes of travel, caring for Country, and resilience. True Story invites viewers to connect with the desert’s vibrant, complex stories.

Exhibition officially opens at Tangentyere Artists, kicking off with a smoking ceremony from 3:30pm.
