Job Opportunity: Desert Mob Assistant Producer

Desart is seeking a motivated and organised Assistant Producer to help deliver the annual Desert Mob event in Mparntwe/Alice Springs.

Desert Mob is one of Australia’s longest‑running Aboriginal art festivals, bringing together hundreds of artists from Central Australia and the cross‑border regions to celebrate desert culture through exhibitions, artist talks, an art market, workshops and community events.

Working closely with the Desert Mob Producer and Curators, the Assistant Producer will provide day‑to‑day administrative and coordination support for the festival, including scheduling, documentation, ticketing, logistics and liaison with participating Aboriginal art centres, artists, contractors and stakeholders. The role also contributes to marketing and social media, financial administration and on‑the‑ground event delivery across openings, public programs and Desert Mob After Dark.

We are looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills, experience supporting arts, cultural, community or event-based projects, and a commitment to respectful engagement with Aboriginal artists, communities, and cultural organisations.

Please provide a one‑page cover letter, responses to the selection criteria, and a current CV with at least two referees, addressed confidentially to Mel Drew at producer@desart.com.au.
