Job Opportunity: Boutique Swag Camp Tour Guide

A rare opportunity to help shape the future of an innovative art & adventure tourism business - Art Tours of Australia is a small business with huge growth opportunities.

Business
Art Tours of Australia is an award-winning, founder-led creative tourism business based in Mparntwe Alice Springs, delivering intimate art and adventure experiences in Central Australia. We specialise in small-group wilderness tours that merge creativity, culture and nature - including guided hiking and overnight camping expeditions, outdoor watercolour painting classes, and Aboriginal art centre visits.

In 2026, we are launching an exciting new chapter for the business, opening our artist-designed boutique swag camp just 15 minutes outside Alice Springs.

Values
Art Tours of Australia is built on strong relationships, integrity, and a deep respect for place and community. The business is led by artist/tour guide and founder Anna Dakin and supported by a trusted network of tourism and creative industry partners. We are seeking team members who share this passion, communicate with authenticity, value collaboration, and uphold the high standards of experience that have earned the business national recognition.

Celebrating the cultures that shape the Central Desert region sits at the heart of our ethical framework, alongside a deep commitment to environmental stewardship - all experiences follow leave-no-trace principles, and foster deep respect for our fragile desert ecosystems.

Critical thinking, excellent communication, and a proactive work ethic are essential in all roles.

This is a seasonal business, and this position includes 3–4 months of unpaid leave from November to February during Central Australia’s hottest months, with the potential for extended work as the business continues to grow.

* start date relies on planning permission approval
$300 per overnight tour + superannuation (total package approx. $400)

We are seeking an exceptional guide to host overnight camping experiences at our brand new boutique swag camp.

Inspire visitors to connect with the edge of the wilderness, and to feel curious and cared for in the great outdoors.

Provide an unanticipated level of comfort, ensuring that what could be a dusty bush camp feels like a luxury desert experience.

Prepare camp, pick up guests, and introduce guests to the camp and its eco-principles. Cook a 2-3 course dinner utilising the camp fire & basic camp kitchen facilities. Share your knowledge about flora, fauna, Arrernte culture, and astronomy, and sleep in a swag at the camp. On waking, provide coffee and a basic breakfast, before driving guests back to town. Return to camp, clean swags, and prepare for the next tour.

This tour provides you with the opportunity to impact people's relationship to the outdoors - help cultivate positive inspiring experiences.

The camp operates with eco principles front and centre - minimising water usage, and keeping impact on the environment as low as possible. Additional tours and progression into Lead Guide roles, running art workshops, and private charter tours available for the right candidate.
